kitty_fic asked those of us in chat for ideas about season one posts, and I volunteered to think up some questions. I had ambitions to do a proper poll with choices, etc., but my time got away from me, so I decided to use my original idea and make a list of questions and post them for you to answer in the comments if you'd like to do so. Some of them will be easy to answer, others will be more difficult, and a few of them may seem downright foolish. But I still want to see what you think!

Favorite Gwen moment: When she kissed Merlin
Banner moments from Season One: every talk between Merlin and Arthur and the scenes between Merlin and his mother.
Those not-so-great writerly moments? (Gwen saying she was glad Merlin walked away because he was never going to beat Arthur. Er, when did Merlin walk away?): Okay, that is mine!
Best Gaius moment: That's a difficult one, but I'd have to say when he talks to Merlin and puts medicine on his back. That's such a father/son moment.
Good Uther? When he thinks he has lost Arthur
Bad Uther? When he has Gwen's father killed
What did you think when you first saw Morgana? Is she truly good?

Your thought when seeing Bradley/Arthur for the first time: I thought Arthur was charismatic and compelling, despite being a bully.
If you could dream about Bradley or Colin, which would you prefer? Both! I can't choose between them.
Favorite Gwen moment: When she spoke up in Ealdor and said the women wanted to fight. And then fighting Kanen's men later on.
Banner moments from Season One: 101 in its entirety, Merlin drinking poison for Arthur, Arthur going off on that quest to save him in return, Merlin's glowy ball of light appearing and guiding Arthur to safety, Mordred's first appearance and the dragon's prophesy about him, Excalibur being forged, OT4 in Ealdor, Of Unicorns and Rat Stew, Gwen's dad being killed and Morgana trying to kill Uther but not being able to go through with it in the end, and finally, Merlin trying to trade his life for Arthur's and then killing Nimueh in a spectacular display of power...I think that scene ranks as the most powerful we see Merlin in the show's entire run. The beginning of 513 comes close, but he doesn't look like our Merlin when he goes all BAMF.
Those not-so-great writerly moments? (Gwen saying she was glad Merlin walked away because he was never going to beat Arthur. Er, when did Merlin walk away?): In hindsight I hate that they gave us that little teaser at the end of S1 where it looked like the dragon was calling out to Morgana since they didn't ever follow up on it.
Best Gaius moment: When he went to face Nimueh to trade his life for Merlin's.
Good Uther? Uther fighting in Arthur's stead in Excalibur and his interaction with his son afterward.
Bad Uther? I think any scenes of genocide go without saying, but for a more personal example...When he put Arthur in the dungeons and crumpled up the Morteus flower in his fist to teach his son a lesson.
What did you think when you first saw Morgana? I thought she looked gorgeous, but haunted. That she was clearly upset about the execution that was happening below made her an instantly sympathetic figure.
Favorite visiting Noble: I'm trying to think of any that appeared in S1...Only Bayard is coming to mind, and he's certainly not my favorite!
Most gorgeous Knight: Lancelot, even if his knighthood only lasted for like, 5 minutes.
A Scene you wish they would have included that they didn't: I would've liked to have seen Merlin return to Arthur after killing Nimueh and saving Gaius in the finale.
Best Kilgharrah wisdom moment: Any of the times (and there were many) he rhapsodized about Arthur and Merlin being two halves of the same whole.
Best Idiot Merlin moment: From The Gates of Avalon - Uther: Well, I hope for our sake you find a cure or we'll find ourselves with a food shortage on our hands. Merlin: Food shortage?
BAMF Arthur moment: I'm not sure if this classifies as BAMF exactly, but the first moment that came to mind was from The Beginning of the End when Merlin is late to free Arthur and Mordred, and Arthur draws his sword, readying to fend his own men off so that the druid boy may live.
BAMF Merlin moment: Either making the twister form in Ealdor or pulling down the lightning in the finale.
Saddest season one moment: Will dying. I wasn't even that attached to him as a character, but his words about being afraid squeezed my heart. I don't think there's anything more heartbreaking than someone being terrified as they lay dying.

Cutest child of season one? (As if there are any other choices): Mordred's the only kid coming to mind...and I thought he was creepy, so.
When Season one ended, were you happy with the series? Yes!
Who did you crush on? None of them, really. They all seemed really young to me at the time, like babies. I didn't really appreciate how hot Bradley was until S2 and beyond...and Colin had to wait until S4 and S5 for me to see him as anything more than adorable.
Who did you really not like that much? Hm, I liked the core four and loved to hate Uther. So Gaius, I guess.
And did you ever dream about having all the knights over for a game of spin the bottle? Not the knights from S1, no. The knights from S4, however...well, I haven't yet, but I wouldn't be opposed to such a dream!

Thanks for filling this out; it was fun to come up with the questions and to see what everyone thinks.

Banner moments from Season One: so much of them. All those "Merlin and Arthur talk and look each other in the eyes" and "Uther gives his blessing" and "Hunith gives her blessing" :D
Those not-so-great writerly moments? (Gwen saying she was glad Merlin walked away because he was never going to beat Arthur. Er, when did Merlin walk away?): Camelot is starving a day or two after all the eddible plants died? I wonder how they survive winter.
Best Gaius moment: 1x13. He's willing to sacrifice himself for Merlin. Not much can beat that.
Good Uther? the talk with Arthur after the fight with the undead knight.
Bad Uther? when he crushes the flower in The Poisoned Chalice
What did you think when you first saw Morgana? I don't really remember.
Favorite visiting Noble: I can think only of Bayard. And he wasn't bad.

Best Idiot Merlin moment: I loved how he didn't understand Arthur's hand signals in 1x11.
BAMF Arthur moment: his speech in 1x10 The Moment of Truth. And his climb in 1x04 The Poisoned Chalice.
BAMF Merlin moment: season finale fight with Nimueh
Saddest season one moment: Will's death
Happiest season one moment: when they see the resurrected unicorn and when Merlin finds out Arthur will live in 1x13
Favorite spell Merlin uses: cleaning spells. They'd come in handy. :D

Your thought when seeing Bradley/Arthur for the first time: My inner dialogue: "He's kinda cute - what an ass - is he the antagon - PRINCE ARTHUR? Oh, okay, well he has a ways to go."

Favorite Gwen moment: Introduction, teaching Merlin armour, helping Gaius take care of Merlin, all the scenes with her and Lancelot and Morgana, telling off Arthur ... I just have a lot of feelings about series 1 Gwen.
Banner moments from Season One: Those moments when Arthur either listens to or protects Merlin
Those not-so-great writerly moments? (Gwen saying she was glad Merlin walked away because he was never going to beat Arthur. Er, when did Merlin walk away?): hmmm ...
Best Gaius moment: Maybe the giving of the magic book? That was nice.
Good Uther? Either when he thinks he lost Arthur, or facing Black Knight when he knows there is no chance of victory because he would gladly give his life for Arthur (in other words the best part of Uther is Arthur).
Bad Uther? Tom. (in general, if the best thing about Uther is Arthur, than the worst thing is his obsessed hatred of magic)
What did you think when you first saw Morgana? Pretty. Had no idea who she was, so it was a bit shocking to find out just a tiny bit later.
Favorite visiting Noble: NA
Most gorgeous Knight: Lancelot
A Scene you wish they would have included that they didn't: SO MANY. Like the end of the pilot episode, I want to see how that first meeting went between Arthur and his newly appointed manservant SO BADLY.
Best Kilgharrah wisdom moment: "Two sides of a coin" aka the phrase that launched a thousand fanfictions. You go Kilgarragh and your shipping heart. We understand.
Best Idiot Merlin moment: Forgetting the sword. Running into Arthur.
BAMF Arthur moment: Saving Merlin's life. Protecting Ealdor.
BAMF Merlin moment: Protecting Ealdor. Saving Arthur. Blowing up Sidhe.
Saddest season one moment: Merlin saying goodbye to his mother, thinking he will die, gets me every time.
Happiest season one moment: All happy scenes of the main four are ridiculously happy. Highlights being Arthur/Merlin banter of course.
Favorite spell Merlin uses: LIGHTENING!

Your thought when seeing Bradley/Arthur for the first time: Loved that he was such a prat. I had expected him to be all noble and stuff and to see him pushing people around and with such arrogance was great.
If you could dream about Bradley or Colin, which would you prefer? Colin. He'd read me books and I'd feed him pie.
Favorite Gwen moment: when she told Arthur off about the breakfast in Moment of Truth. We get the first hints of A/G.
Banner moments from Season One: when we find out why Uther started the Great Purge. I loved that they turned Nimueh from a villain to an understandingly upset woman who had lost everything.
Those not-so-great writerly moments? (Gwen saying she was glad Merlin walked away because he was never going to beat Arthur. Er, when did Merlin walk away?): I wasn't fond of Edwin. He creeped me out.
Best Gaius moment: When he wrote the letter saying he'd give his life for Merlin's
Good Uther? in Excalibur, locking Arthur up and taking his place
Bad Uther? crushing the flower in Poisoned Chalice. He was a terrible father and thoroughly unjust.
What did you think when you first saw Morgana? Oh, she's got a long journey to go. Plus she was gorgeous.

A Scene you wish they would have included that they didn't: Anything about the Great Purge and Gaius's hand in it.
Best Kilgharrah wisdom moment: When he tries to blast Merlin with his fire-breath.
Best Idiot Merlin moment: Since I don't consider Merlin an idiot but rather someone in hiding, it's hard to say. Perhaps the food shortage scene with him and Uther. Makes me laugh every time.
BAMF Arthur moment: Fighting Valiant, knowing he was going to die
BAMF Merlin moment: Merlin and Nimueh's final scene
Saddest season one moment: When Merlin asks Gaius if he thinks Merlin is a monster in ep. 1
Happiest season one moment: when Merlin found out he had to wear that ridiculous costume in Poisoned Chalice. I made that outfit!
Favorite spell Merlin uses: Forbaernan.
Cutest child of season one? (As if there are any other choices): I'm going to say no one since Mordred was too chilling to be cute.
When Season one ended, were you happy with the series? Oh, yes. I wanted series 2 immediately as in right NOW!
Who did you crush on? Colin. He's more my type than Bradley although I think Bradley is adorable. Or if you mean the characters, then Merlin.
Who did you really not like that much? Gaius. He was too shady for me.
And did you ever dream about having all the knights over for a game of spin the bottle? Spin the bottle isn't what I'd have the knights over for. :P

I didn't think he was ugly or anything, but I think I was focused more on Bradley's hotness. Colin's adorableness and hotness gradually built up for me.
Your thought when seeing Bradley/Arthur for the first time: Definitely thought he was ridiculously attractive.
If you could dream about Bradley or Colin, which would you prefer? Both, definitely both doing very naughty things to each other.
Favorite Gwen moment: Anytime she got flustered, like in 1.09 when she tries to furiously backtrack when she told Merlin she'd grant him anything.
Banner moments from Season One: Any Arthur/Merlin moment, and I do mean, any.
Those not-so-great writerly moments? (Gwen saying she was glad Merlin walked away because he was never going to beat Arthur. Er, when did Merlin walk away?): I think dropping the ball with Merlin/Gwen and shoehorning Arthur/Gwen into the last episode would be my biggest complaints.
Best Gaius moment: Trying to sacrifice himself for Merlin in 1.13.
Good Uther? His speech to Arthur after fighting for him in 1.09.
Bad Uther? Crushing the flower in 1.04. Just so horrible. That was extremely hard to come back from.
What did you think when you first saw Morgana? Not too much. I didn't really know anything about the Morgana of legend. I just thought she was pretty and liked her sass.
Favorite visiting Noble: Can't think of any.
Most gorgeous Knight: Lancelot.
A Scene you wish they would have included that they didn't: Arthur and Merlin's first moments after Merlin became his manservant.

Best Idiot Merlin moment: Probably not being able to come up with a better lie for Arthur's absences in 1.07.
BAMF Arthur moment: Fighting to save Merlin's life in 1.04.
BAMF Merlin moment: Fighting Nimueh in 1.13 tied with him rescuing Arthur in the lake in 1.07.
Saddest season one moment: Arthur firing Merlin in 1.02.
Happiest season one moment: "I'm glad you're here, Merlin."
Favorite spell Merlin uses: I don't know if I have any favorite Merlin spells. I guess the one I liked the most was the one he used to turn dog from a statue to a real dog in 1.02.
Cutest child of season one? (As if there are any other choices): Didn't think Mordred was "cute" exactly, so none.
When Season one ended, were you happy with the series? Yes.
Who did you crush on? Bradley/Arthur.
Who did you really not like that much? Uther.
And did you ever dream about having all the knights over for a game of spin the bottle? Never really dreamed about the knights during the first few series.

I mean, I absolutely ADORE him now and want to stab anyone who dares say he isn't attractive. But at the time, I was kinda just like eh, ok.
Your thought when seeing Bradley/Arthur for the first time: Haha, I think I thought he was hot.
If you could dream about Bradley or Colin, which would you prefer? Colin.
Favorite Gwen moment: When she first met Merlin! The two of them were so adorkable and it was so obvious that Gwen was attracted to Merlin that I sat there going, "awwww... I could totally get on this ship." Except... then Merlin met Arthur and that ship sank.
Banner moments from Season One: Any Merlin and Arthur scene really. :P More specifically, Arthur reaching for the Mortaeus flower through the bars of his jail cell, the moment when Arthur almost snapped out of Sophia and Aulfric's enchantment when Merlin was trying to convince him something was wrong, Merlin's goodbye to Arthur before leaving for Ealdor, the poisoned goblets from the Labyrinth of Gedref, and Merlin's goodbye to Arthur before going to the Isle of the Blessed.
Those not-so-great writerly moments? (Gwen saying she was glad Merlin walked away because he was never going to beat Arthur. Er, when did Merlin walk away?): Um... I'm really bad with remembering inconsistencies. Oh! I've got one. The fact that between episode 1 and 2, Arthur and Merlin seemed to have gotten a lot closer, making me wonder how much time passed. It only seemed like a week at most from a viewer's point of view.
Best Gaius moment: When he decided to take Merlin's place to save Arthur.
Good Uther? When he fought in Arthur's place against the Black Knight. But more specifically, the moment after when Gaius just finished bandaging Uther's wounds and he and Arthur have this little bit of banter that make them seem like an actual father and son.
Bad Uther? When he tells Arthur he's forbidden from getting the Morteaus flower. (I understand why he did it, and I agree with his reasons. But that doesn't mean I like it.)
What did you think when you first saw Morgana? She's really pretty!
Favorite visiting Noble: Um... was there anyone other than Bayard? Can I count Lancelot? He's noble in spirit!
Most gorgeous Knight: LANCELOT. He was briefly a knight, he counts right?
A Scene you wish they would have included that they didn't: Did we have deleted scenes? I don't remember. But more Arthur and Merlin is always good! Would've loved a bit more between episodes one and two.
Best Kilgharrah wisdom moment: Two sides of the same coin!
Best Idiot Merlin moment: When he goes to confess sorcery after Gwen is accused in episode 3.
BAMF Arthur moment: Going to fight for Ealdor.
BAMF Merlin moment: When he kills Nimueh, hands down.
Saddest season one moment: Will's death! D:
Happiest season one moment: When Merlin hears that Arthur's not actually dead in the Labyrinth of Gedref.
Favorite spell Merlin uses: Conjuring the dragon in the fire.
Cutest child of season one? (As if there are any other choices): Mordred! Asa Butterfield is adorable. If a little creepy sometimes.
When Season one ended, were you happy with the series? Absolutely!
